State of the Fair: producer between continents

State OFFF is a Zimbabwe-born, Amsterdam-based DJ and producer. He blends influences from various continents: baile funk from São Paulo, Baltimore club, London bass, and gqom from Durban. Gqom is an energetic South African dance style featuring raw, syncopated rhythms. He garnered international attention with his debut EP GQOM TODAY (2022). You could already see him perform at Parallel, Lente Kabinet Festival, Nyege Nyege, and Liquid Room in Edinburgh.

A performance about the body under tension

During ADE, State OFFF presents its A/V performance Umzimba for the first time at Paradiso. Heavy percussion sounds from live hardware sequencers respond to a language model that converts sound into visuals. The performance explores a 'ghost experience' of a body under tension: sweat, fatigue, and exhaustion, while no physical body is present.

Analog rhythm meets digital intelligence
