Rough Diamonds – Dasamife en Teis Ortved Quintet
Dates
Rough Diamonds
The Amsterdam Conservatory is bursting with young, passionate musicians who are developing all kinds of interesting initiatives. From late May to late June, our stage will be the setting for these representatives of the new jazz generation.
Dasamife
Dasamife is the project of South Korean pianist Miran Noh, who colors her music with the impressionism of Ravel and Debussy and the contemporary jazz of Shai Maestro and Immanuel Wilkins. Her compositions explore themes of social displacement and personal emotion, culminating in dark, shimmering dreamscapes. Saul Andrea Barna trumpet, Miran Noh piano, Frederico Campanella bass, and Davids Eglitis drums.
Teis Ortved Quintet
The Amsterdam-based quintet of tenor saxophonist Teis Ortved builds its music around attentive listening and collective playing. Ortved’s compositions offer space for the personal qualities of each band member, with a balance between clarity and ambiguity that keeps the music constantly in motion. Sources of inspiration include Logan Richardson, Devin Daniels, and Melissa Aldana. Teis Ortved tenor saxophone, Kai Spatzier piano, Andrew Moreno guitar, Aniol Torrents double bass, and Lluis Pérez-Villages drums.
