NOM live: an evening full of absurdist rock, satire and spectacle

The legendary band NOM from Sint-Petersburg is coming with their characteristic dramatic-idiotic show.

Music, theatre, absurdism, satire and that completely unique world of NOM, which cannot be compared to anything else. The programme includes songs that have stood the test of time for decades, the band's greatest hits and, of course, new work.

NOM emerged in the late eighties in the Leningrad rock scene and, from the very beginning, moved in a universe that stood entirely on its own. While everyone around them tried to be serious rock heroes, NOM chose a completely different path: 'bringing out the idiotic in the dramatic aspects of life and magnifying the dramatic sides of the idiotic'.

From garage rock to electronica and something that borders on comic opera; from classic Russian poetry to absurdity of their own making. And through it all, NOM has never lost the ability to laugh at the world around them — certainly not when reality itself increasingly begins to resemble a theatre of the absurd.

Critics once called NOM 'the last bastion of ruthless satire'. Years have passed, but the description seems more relevant than ever.

RENTAL CONCERT At Splendor you will hear the 55 musicians associated with Splendor, and the guests they invite. You can see this in the title, for example: 'Felix Schlarmann presents...' or 'Splendor presents...'. But Splendor is also there for musicians from outside. They can rent our spaces for their concerts, releases, try-outs. This concert is one such rental concert: a performance by external musicians, organised on their own initiative.
