Nederlands Studenten Kamerkoor - Overwoekerd
Overwoekerd is a musical exploration of the shifting relationship between humans and nature. How do we relate to something we were once deeply connected to, but now increasingly tend to suppress? In this program, the Netherlands Student Chamber Choir explores how sound and voice can give shape to nature, to humanity, and to the connection between the two. The program, filled with contemporary music, offers a rich and layered repertoire full of contrasts: vulnerability and strength, threat and comfort, stillness and eruption. Nature and humankind resonate through one another like echoes in a changing world.
Under the direction of conductor Lodewijk van der Ree, and supported by répétiteur Catelijn van Berkel, director Mirte Bulsink, and vocal coach Nathan Tax, the NSK presents a musical triptych in which sound and movement merge into a powerful, immersive experience. The choir performs alongside horn player Noor Huls, who plays a key role both as a soloist and in dialogue with the choir. In ten cities across the Netherlands, audiences will be gradually overgrown by sound and atmosphere.
Let yourself be carried away by music from well-known and lesser-known composers, including Britten, Gudmundsen-Holmgreen, Tormis, Mazzoli, and brand-new work by commissioned composer Eva Beunk. This is not a traditional classical choir concert, but a unique journey, one that invites reflection on what makes us human and on our responsibility for the world we live in.
