About the musicians
Heleen Koele is active in all areas of her profession. Whether it concerns an oratorio, an opera, a song, or ensemble singing; everything with heart and soul. Heleen Koele has worked as a soloist with orchestras such as Concerto ‘d Amsterdam, Amsterdam Sinfonietta, and the Combattimento Consort. The flexibility of her voice means that Heleen is sought after for a wide range of repertoire, such as Bach’s Passions, Brahms’ Requiem, Verdi’s Requiem, or Tippett’s A Child of Our Time. In addition to dramatic roles such as Suor Angelica (Puccini) and Euridice (Gluck), Heleen Koele discovered her comedic talent in the role of the upstart Lady Cockburn in the opera Fra Diavolo. As an ensemble singer, she performed with the Netherlands Chamber Choir for many years (1998–2023). Together with Sytse Buwalda, Heleen founded the Netherlands Bach Consort where they both serve as the artistic directors.
Steven Faber is affiliated with ArtEZ University of the Arts, Conservatorium Zwolle location. As coordinator of the Master's program, research supervisor, and piano coach, he brings together theory, practice, education, and organization through artistic activities. He received his piano training at the conservatories of Zwolle and Utrecht, and privately with the renowned pianist Tan Crone. Additionally, he holds a Master of Education in Arts. Alongside his position at ArtEZ, he gives concerts with singers, focusing on the performance of art songs from ca. 1750 to the present. He has toured Germany, France, England, and Indonesia, and accompanied masterclasses in the Netherlands, France, and Italy by, among others, Elly Ameling, Barbara Hannigan, Alison Pearce, Roberta Alexander, and Michael Chance.
About the location
This living room concert takes place in the living room of Koen and Joris. The canal house at Rozengracht 55-H is a national monument dating back to 1663. Joris and Koen regularly organize (classical) living room concerts at their home.
Practical information
Everyone is welcome from 19:30. The concert begins at 20:00. After the concert, there will be drinks and an opportunity to chat.
