Soulful Pop Songs
Amsterdam singer-songwriter Lorrèn has made a name for herself in recent years with her warm, slightly raw voice. Her soulful pop songs have been streamed millions of times and earned Lorrèn recognition both at home and abroad. Her contemporary sound is a blend of pop with influences from the soul music of the 1960s and 1970s, in which she likes to let the sun shine. At the Roode Bioscoop, she sings her songs in unique solo arrangements, accompanying herself alternately on piano and guitar.
A Summer Child by Nature
Lorrèn was born the daughter of a jazz violinist and spent her early years on the Mediterranean. At 11, she participated in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest and knew her future lay in music. Lorrèn's first single released under her own name spent weeks in the Top 40 of most-played songs in the summer of 2015, and she was selected as a Radio 2 Talent that year. Together with producer Jasper Zuidervaart (Chef’s Special, Jeangu Macrooy, Kris Berry), she recorded her latest album, Sunkissed—14 new songs with the comforting, healing, and exhilarating influence of the sun as a recurring theme. "I'm a summer child. With the sun as my guiding principle, I wanted to make a positive album about love, freedom, hope, and longing, and I think I succeeded."
