Different musical backgrounds
Joshua Herwig & Janna Maurer are a passionate musical duo formed in 2023. Both graduated from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and are currently pursuing a Master of Music (Classical and Jazz).
Drawing on their diverse musical backgrounds (including classical, jazz, and early music) and shared curiosity for new music, they explore a rich palette of styles and sounds. Well-known repertoire by composers like Maurice Ravel and J.S. Bach is featured alongside lesser-known gems by Geza Frid, Kurt Weil, and Oene van Geel. Original compositions, improvisations, and surprising arrangements, by composers from Antonio Carlos Jobim to Misha Mengelberg, also form an important part of their concerts.
In the 2025/2026 season, Joshua & Janna will tour the Netherlands with this program, from intimate living rooms to festivals and concert halls. Their mission: to bring music that interweaves tradition and innovation, and that moves curious listeners in unexpected ways.
Special guest this evening is mezzo-soprano Roza Herwig.
