Soul-affirming works for solo violin by J.S. Bach. Performed by master violinist Jeroen de Groot.
The famous 'Six Sonatas and Partitas for violin solo", written by J.S. Bach, are considered by many to be the 'bible' for violinist. Bach gave these works the title "Sei Solo": "you are alone". In the Old Catholic Church Amsterdam (Ruysdaelstraat 39), a selection of these beautiful and poignant works will be played by violin solist Jeroen de Groot. Despite the fact that the violin is playing alone, the listener will be carried into an incredibly rich and multi-faceted world in which the violin sings, speaks, confronts and affirms itself.
Violin solist Jeroen de Groot has been playing these works all over the Netherlands and in Europe and has also recorded all six sonatas and partitas. On March 28th, 14.30, he will perform a selection of these works, of course ending with the great Chaconne from the second Partita. Tickets at the door (20€)
