Huis Midwoud

Huis Midwoud is a small, intimate historical venue for concerts, silent films and lectures about and with the collection of historical instruments.

A historic room

The old town hall of the former municipality of Midwoud was built in 1848 in eclectic style (according to the gable stone) and was expanded in 1878 by city architect Arnoldus Teunis van Wijngaarden with a floor and a stucco facade with ornaments.

In 1920 an extra school room was added, now the Blüthnerzaal, a small intimate concert space. The coach house, originally a village school and later a garage for a fire engine, now houses a small piano sound museum.

In addition to film concerts, there are regular classical recitals, jazz concerts, lectures with a link to history and small themed exhibitions.
