Jazz, groove, and strings in one ensemble
Woodcraft combines jazz, groove, improvisation, and vocals with the sounds of violin, viola, and cello. In doing so, the ensemble gives string instruments a contemporary voice. Founded in 2017, Woodcraft presents original compositions that defy categorization within a single genre. The music moves between classical traditions and contemporary influences.
Individual style of each member
Each member of Woodcraft brings their own musical background and style. This leads to compositions with diverse forms and influences. The musicians are Wouter Torringa (violin), Reinout de Vey Mestdagh (cello), Joshua Herwig (cello), and Ischa Kooistra (cello). Together, they form an ensemble that places improvisation at the center.
New compositions at the Grachtenfestival
Woodcraft will be performing new compositions at the Grachtenfestival. The festival takes place on and around the Amsterdam canals and offers a stage for unique musical encounters every year.
