Discover the musical world of GenZ
The VoorUit Foundation, in collaboration with Splendor, presents the GenZ Voice Recitals. This series of four double recitals plus one triple recital offers a fresh perspective on classical music. Twelve talented vocal students from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and their duo partners will take you on a musical journey. You'll discover the versatility of classical music through the eyes of Generation Z.
A journey through Connecticut and imagination
The first leg of the journey takes you to the United States. Tenor Trevor Brown and jazz pianist Kai Spatzier will perform the music of Charles Ives and Dave Brubeck, taking you back to the roots of American music. After the intermission, soprano Agathe Labadie and pianist Pieter Bogaert will take you back to your childhood, playing music by Offenbach, Poulenc, and Cole Porter, among others.
Echoes of Home: The American Musical Voice
In Echoes of Home, you'll discover the American musical voice. You'll hear works by Charles Ives and Dave Brubeck. The recital begins with Ives' German compositions. His English-language songs follow. These explore nostalgia and the longing for home. Brubeck's songs also evoke memories, but in a distinctly American style.
Imaginations: Back to the Thunder Time
In Imaginations, you're transported back to the world of your childhood. You'll hear music by Offenbach, Poulenc, and Kosma, among others. The program also includes a foray into German songs by Hugo Wolf and Felix Mendelssohn. The performance is brought to life by director Iris Skolidi, offering you a moment of spontaneous creativity and joy.
