Tarantula

Huh! A spider! But wait – this isn't a scary spider at all. It is the lonely spider Tarantula. You see, she can't spin a web, even though she dreams of a spiderweb palace full of friends. She sees all the animals pass by, from the proud lion to the sociable chickens. But no one notices her! Until it turns out she possesses a magical power that allows her to make the other animals dance. Will her dream come true after all?

Saint-Saëns

Using three pieces by the French composer Saint-Saëns, the musicians of the Concertgebouw Orchestra and actress Charlene Sancho take you into the world of Tarantula. In Saint-Saëns' Carnival of the Animals , they present the most wondrous creatures dancing to the Tarantelle. Naturally, the famous Danse macabre is also featured.

This concert, in collaboration with Oorkaan, is directed by Caecilia Thunnissen. The dramaturgy is by Erin Coppens, the text was written by Lisanne van Aert, Tessa Verbei is responsible for the scenography, and Desiree van Gelderen for the lighting design. Lionel Ziblat arranged the music.
