Little has changed regarding openness about sexual orientation between the past and now

A lot of music has been written about love, eroticism, and sensuality. But queer composers were often forced to keep their sexual orientation hidden. Even today, being out and queer is not a matter of course.

In a time when ‘gender madness’ has become a common term and the rights of queer and trans people are once again under pressure, even in Western countries, more visibility and presence of queer people on our stages has become even more urgent.

Therefore, an evening bursting with outspoken queerness in dance, music, and performance. An evening in which the cello shows itself in its most connecting and versatile way. An evening on which boundaries shift. A continuous show with short performances by cellists and dancers throughout the space. When the DJs join the other performers, the Grote Zaal of the Muziekgebouw becomes one big dance floor.

Please note: The Cello Club Night is a standing concert. The balcony is open for people who still want to sit down for a while. The view from the balcony is limited in some places.
