Bach as a regular morning guest at the festival

The Cello Biennale Amsterdam opens every festival day in the same way: with one of the six Cellosuites by Johann Sebastian Bach. Each suite is played by a different soloist. Stefano Bruno is one of the six cellists who continues this tradition. The suites are considered a highlight in the cello repertoire and are among the most performed works for solo cello.

A suite with an extra solo

After ten editions of the Biennale, the programme is receiving a small expansion. In addition to the Bach suite, Stefano Bruno is adding a short solo work, chosen in the context of the festival theme Shifting Borders. In this way, the concert offers not only a classical foundation, but also a look at what cello music can be today.

Enjoying at the Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ
