Academy of the Concertgebouw Orchestra

For 25 years, the Concertgebouw Orchestra Academy has been training talented young musicians. The Concertgebouw Orchestra Academy has since become an internationally renowned training institute. The other talent development programs completed the picture: the youth orchestra Concertgebouworkest Young, the Ammodo Masterclass for young conductors (both every two years), and the Bernard Haitink Associate Conductorship. Many alumni have found work in professional orchestras, including 19 (soon to be 21) in the Concertgebouw Orchestra itself.

Mäkela, Dawidiuk, Ferreira and Santa Vižine

To celebrate this, future Chief Conductor Klaus Mäkelä leads an orchestra composed of current and former participants in our talent development programs. Aurel Dawidiuk, the first associate conductor in the orchestra's history (2024-2026), conducts the First 'Peer Gynt' Suite and is the soloist in Saint-Saëns' Organ Symphony . And two former academy students who rose to the rank of principal in the Concertgebouw Orchestra perform as soloists together in Bruch's Double Concerto for clarinet and viola!

Anniversary concert

With this anniversary concert, the orchestra emphasizes both the success of the Academy and the importance of talent development programs – not only for the Concertgebouw Orchestra itself, but for the entire classical music world. This concert is more than an anniversary: it is a celebration of 25 years of talent development at the Concertgebouw Orchestra and of a healthy future for symphonic music.
