9 tips for 24 Hours Nieuw-West
Updated 8 May 2026 at 11:13Written by Tom Flanagan
The 24 Hours programme is a day-long celebration of a specific neighbourhood in Amsterdam, and this June it arrives in Nieuw-West. From watersports at the Sloterplas to dancing at Phono Lake and a festival heart at Van Eesteren, we've prepared a list of the best events for English-speaking residents.
Party at the festival heart
Everything comes together at the Van Eesteren Museum, the festival heart of 24 uur Nieuw-West. Between 12:00 and 18:00, you can visit for information about the program, and there is plenty to do. Sample halal street food, join a guided tour of the Afaina de Jong exhibition, listen to DJ Marcel Barlag, and play bingo.

Tasting and tour at the brewery
Visit Brewery De 7 Deugden for a tour of the brewery and a tasting of two different beers. During your visit, you will learn more about the brewing process and the story behind this social enterprise.

Pop-up performances in the open air
Come watch pop-up performances by young creators from the city. This afternoon, you will hear music and spoken-word art from new talent, among other things, and get to know the voices, stories, and energy of a new generation.
Meervaart studio, Osdorpplein 6, Amsterdam

Social networking event
Engage in conversation with social initiatives, entrepreneurs, and businesses from Nieuw-West. During these lunch sessions, new collaborations emerge as you share time, knowledge, resources, and contacts to build a beautiful Nieuw-West.

Dancing for all ages
Join a Dance Connects dance class at Cinema De Vlugt. You will move to music from all over the world, work on balance and fitness, and discover how to express yourself on the dance floor. No dance experience is necessary.
Cinema De Vlugt, Burgemeester de Vlugtlaan 125, Amsterdam

High Above Nieuw-West
View Nieuw-West from a great height during a visit to the 12th floor of the old Het Slotervaart hospital. From this normally closed spot, you have a view over the entire district. DE Café Slotervaart, in the lobby, opens its doors especially for residents of Nieuw-West.

Open workshop
Drop by Buurtwerkplaats Noorderhof for workshops, meetups, and an evening around the campfire. Bring your favourite record for the bring-your-own-vinyl session or see what emerges in the moment.
