If Amsterdam’s fashion scene is definable by one thing, it would be for its outstanding variety of unique local streetwear brands. With so many options and boutiques, here’s our breakdown of the most exciting independent Amsterdam-based streetwear labels that went global.
Daily Paper
Lets kick off with the popular Amsterdam-based fashion and lifestyle brand Daily Paper, founded by three childhood friends in 2012. The label combines the rich African heritage with contemporary designs in order to achieve high quality unique garments for both men and women. Four
If you’re specifically scouting for men’s streetwear, then Four is a great starting point. Founded in 2012, Four combines street fashion, contemporary design and luxury brands - varying from Prada to Off-White - into their unique pieces. Check out their uniquely designed independent store near the infamous luxury shopping street P.C. Hooftstraat.

In Gold We Trust
Another gem founded in 2012, In Gold We Trust is focused upon men’s streetwear. Inspired by athletes, the clothing line prides itself on quality tailoring and the timelessness of its designs with various styles influenced by contemporary scenes, cultures and generations. You can find some of their collection at De Bijenkorf or in their own store on the Kinkerstraat (temporarily closed due to construction).

The New Originals
After running a successful lifestyle blog together, a group of friends combined their specialities within fashion, music and design by establishing The New Originals in 2015. Making long lasting and durable creative clothing for both men and women, they have truly gained much recognition for their bright and unique pieces. Maha
Frustrated by the over-saturation of men’s streetwear, Saskia van Hofwegen and Dian Iskender founded Maha in 2015, in the hopes of bringing more female representation into the market. They aim to create an inclusive and a diverse family where all women feel good in what they are wearing. Sneakers are one of their main selling products, but they also have also have a highly popular range of clothing and accessories. All this can either be found online or in their little boutique near Vijzelgracht.

Patta
The Black-owned streetwear fashion line opened its doors in 2004, selling both men and women’s streetwear clothing. Patta is known for its various special collaborations such as Patta x Tommy 2022 or the women’s line Femme 2022, which encouraged many unconventional forms. Every new season includes a variety of t-shirts, basics, bottoms and accessories. If you are near the Zeedijk area, you should check out their in store exclusives!
Fun fact: The brand is named after a slang term for “shoe” in tribute to the founders’ Surinamese heritage.

Filling Pieces
With their Low Top being the first shoe to bring together streetwear and high fashion, Filling Pieces aims to offer products that both affordable and luxurious. The concept of diversity is really important to the label which aims to bring everyone together and get rid of socially constructed labels. Two twins - a brother interested in fashion and a sister passionate about marketing - came together as ONE to bring us unique and rare pieces. B.L.A.H
This mission of this online store is all about showcasing sustainable products. Their sneakers that “leave a (foot)print, but not a negative one on the earth” are their main selling point, but the selection also includes other items such as joggers and hoodies. New Amsterdam Surf Association
Former professional windsurfer Paul Zepe swapped in his board for some graphic design software when he founded New Amsterdam Surf Association, inspired by his passion for riding the waves. Their distinct products vary from organic t-shirts, graphic shirts and bottoms, and they also sell their own branded surf boards.
Fun fact: Some of their items including their puffer jackets are padded in Repreve, made out of recycled water bottles.

This label’s original idea was to represent one’s bad and good days through their clothing. Catering to both men and women, Designer Couture aims to motivate young people to get through the hard times by feeling good and sustainable as they walk the streets.
