New Land is home to the world’s most significant concentration of Land Art – giant artworks made in response to the surrounding landscape. There are nine pieces scattered all across the polder, which are visitable year-round. But, during Land Art Weekend, a knowledgeable guide will explain the pieces with special performances and activities organised at the various locations.

Head to the shores of Bloemendaal aan Zee for this annual electronic music festival. Haarlem is known for its gastronomy with the Grote Markt – flanked by an array of outstanding restaurants and convivial cafes – at the city’s foodie heart. Dance Valley returns to Spaarnwoude - just outside of Haarlem - each August for a colourful dance music festival with the feeling of a small village. Famous DJs spin sets across the various circus tents and a few large open-air stages spread over different areas. The musical offering is diverse, with each stage representing one of the various dance music styles.

Every year, more than 55,000 pilgrims trek to the middle of the Dutch countryside for this musical paradise. Every five years, the ports of IJmuiden and Beverwijk serve as the starting point to SAIL Amsterdam, marking the start of the maritime celebration being held on 20 August.
