Cruyff Street League

In the Jubilee Year, the biggest street football tournament of Amsterdam will take place, namely the Cruyff Street League. A ball, a street, a field. Johan Cruijff didn't need anything more. And neither do you. Amsterdam is celebrating its birthday and will soon be 750 years old. We are celebrating this with this special tournament for boys and girls aged 10 to 15. Throughout Amsterdam. The Vera Perillo Duo, formed by flautist Iara Perillo and oboist Martín Vera Guerra, has been performing throughout the Netherlands since 2018. The duo starts from their shared passion for early music, Brazilian folk music, and a search for lesser-known repertoire for the unique combination of flute and oboe. With this musical mix of inspirations, the duo takes you on a journey through diverse cultural and historical landscapes. It is free to attend.

Opening Concert Amsterdam 750 by the Weespertrekvaart Men’s Choir

As Dries Roelvink made clear on AT5 (May 2023) in the Jordaan, it is crucial that the Amsterdam song regains widespread recognition. Therefore, the Weespertrekvaartmannen want to draw attention to the Amsterdam song through various performances as part of the celebration of Amsterdam's 750th anniversary. This includes the opening concert on 27 October 2024 at the Van Houtkenkerk. Please note: The spoken and sung languages will be Dutch.

The Great Amsterdam Quiz - preliminary rounds

The Great Amsterdam Quiz consists of preliminary rounds held from 30 September to 14 October 2024 at various locations across the city, including bars, community centres, and sports clubs. The winning team from each location will advance to the final on 1 November at Westerunie. Please note that the times may vary depending on the location, so check with the participating venues for specific details.

Although the details are not yet finalized, we want to let you know that more information will be shared soon. Museum Weesp

Ongekend.Weesp. (Exceptional.Weesp.)

Barely two years ago, Weesp became part of the municipality of Amsterdam. But who is the resident of Weesp, and what makes the old fortress town so special? You'll experience that during the interactive exhibition Ongekend.Weesp, opening its doors on 23 February. Please note that the exhibition will be predominantly in Dutch.

The Fort on the Ossenmarkt, built in 1861, is one of the last tower forts with which the New Dutch Waterline was reinforced. When the fort was finished, it was already obsolete. The masonry was no longer bomb-proof due to the arrival of the high-explosive bomb. The fort retained its defensive role until 1959, when Weesp was abolished as a fortification by Royal Decree. The fort then served as a mushroom farm and training location for the fire brigade. After purchase by the Municipality of Weesp, a thorough restoration began in 1983, during which the fort moat was dug up again and the bridge restored.

Since 2022, the Weesp library has been part of the Public Library.

The Van Houten Church in Weesp has a beautiful authentic interior in the style of Berlages New Art with Art Nouveau features. The church is also popularly referred to as the Chocolate Church.

Grote or St. Laurenskerk

This beautiful church – also popularly known as the Grote Kerk – was built around 1450 as a cruciform church and is considered the oldest building in Weesp. In the church tower hangs a carillon by the Hemony brothers from Amsterdam. This 17th-century chime still plays every 15 minutes.

A social farm shop

You can purchase fresh meat, fruit, soup, and pantry staples such as jam, honey and oil at this daycare farm. The products come directly from the farm or fellow farmers, gardeners and growers. In the fall, you can also find wood for the fireplace. Talented people who need care work on the farm under the guidance and supervision that allows them to blossom. Hoogerlust will change its name to De Bleije Farm, so visit debleijeboerderij.nl soon for more information.
