The reincarnation of poet-blower Lucebert presented by Solvanus Liebherr in Splendor.
In Paris, poet and painter Lucebert discovered jazz music. At the same time, memories of his youth during the war and his sympathy for the Nazis returned. This caused an inner struggle. As a result, he developed into a poet-blower. Lucebert felt like a failed saxophonist who longed to improvise, just like a jazz musician.
Saxophonist Lucas Bakker, 16 years old, reincarnates as a real wind player. He plays together with Splendor musician River Adomeit and pianist Michiel Braam. Michiel is composing for the film IJdel Licht, a film about Lucebert's war years. Experience his musical journey.
After a few test shots of the film on screen, actors Mike Zanting, as Lucebert, and Ezra Koppejan, as Juc, perform an egg scene. The famous egg Humpty Dumpty sets the tone. The egg permeates Daoism and the poetry of Lucebert. Let yourself be carried away by his story.
The program consists of three sets. Set 1 is titled Humpty Dumpty, featuring jazz classics, paintings by Lucebert, and compositions by Lucas Bakker. Set 2 is Vain Light, with a film screening and theater scene. In this, the music of Michiel Braam connects with the poetry of Lucebert. Set 3 offers improvisation on compositions by Misha Mengelberg. This is interspersed with 'Daoist' poems by Lucebert and Solvanus Liebherr. Would you like to experience this? Then use the link for tickets.
