Comedy special about Keti Koti
Wait a minute: A cabaret show about the abolition of slavery? Precisely! Isn't that way too long ago? Could be!
I have nothing to do with that, do I? Anyway! All of us. Because we live in the Netherlands. More and more people are becoming acquainted with Keti Koti, breaking the chains. An increasing number of people even know what it stands for: the day that the Netherlands abolished slavery. That's a party. For everyone. Because no right-thinking person can be in favor of slavery. Much is still unclear. About how that went. About what we celebrate. And why that is still important now. The makers of FATU, MC Jeffrey Spalburg and DJ Phantom like to share the story with the audience. They are now the longest running comedy show in the Netherlands and they know better than anyone how to connect with your audience in a hilarious yet substantive way. No matter who sits in front of you. In this comedy special they are supported by the images and animations of VJ Bikkel and they take you back from the present, but above all they look ahead.
What do we celebrate with Keti Koti? What does it stand for? What is the legacy of our colonial past today? How do we give that a place and more importantly; how do we move forward together? Because the only way is forward. Know your past and be ready for the future. Keti Koti Conference. It is time to break the chains and connect more with each other.
