Workshop by Armin Hokmi on July 5
Armin Hokmi is an Iranian choreographer and performer, born in Bushehr and working between Berlin and Oslo. His work is characterized by hypnotic movement patterns in which repetition, rhythm, and collective energy take center stage. Layered structures emerge from seemingly simple movements, in which bodies constantly react to one another and create new forms together.
He draws inspiration from history, rituals, and encounters between cultures, resulting in performances that are both intense and sensory. From 2024 to 2026, he is an associate artist at the renowned festival Montpellier Danse.
Workshop by Zora Snake on July 11
In the context of his new work Combat des Lianes, Zora Snake explores the duality between man and nature and the impact of our ecosystem on living beings. Inspired by his intensive journey to the forests of East and West Cameroon — during which he took the entire artistic team with him — the choreographer reinterprets the rituals of the Baka communities of Cameroon, an indigenous population on the brink of extinction. A dance of deconstructed polyphonies in bodies, where each body becomes a manifesto in itself.
In this workshop, choreographer Zora Snake shares part of his creative process. Participants are also invited to experiment with the boundaries between dance and artistic performance, utilizing the possibilities of the body and vital energies liberated from individual movement vocabularies. Additionally, the workshop explores gesture, form, space, movement, and dramaturgy as a “decolonial aesthetic” of dance on the African continent.
Workshop by Andreas Hannes on July 12
During Julidans, Andreas Hannes will also be giving a workshop in the studio. Andreas Hannes develops a distinctive movement practice in which rhythm, gravity, and vibration shape the body. His work moves between dance, music, and visual art, and explores how movement arises in relation to space and environment.
With a background in classical percussion and film, he graduated from the SNDO in 2018 with The City. Since then, he has been developing an ongoing practice centered on skipping and related movements, awarded the BNG Dansprijs (2020) and selected for Aerowaves (2022), among others.
