About JA Collective
JA Collective is a collaboration between Los Angeles-based Jordan Johnson and Aidan Carberry. Their backgrounds in hip-hop, contemporary dance, and theater result in a unique style that delivers a fresh, innovative, and energetic perspective. Through their play across various domains of dance and multidisciplinary forms, they hope to challenge the art form and push it to new places. JA Collective has previously collaborated with artists such as Frank Ocean, Paul McCartney, Justin Bieber, and William Forsythe.
“With our new piece, we explore a crucial moment of change and its unique impact on every performer. Through refined choreography and dynamic lighting, we unfold a story of loss, grief, and healing. The music creates a grounded reality, broken by this turning point. Yet, moments of playfulness emerge—an ode to the complexity of grief and the unexpected power of joy.” - JA Collective on their new choreography
"They have succeeded in taking the infinite combination of four limbs and weaving it into thousands of beautiful, complicated connections." – LA Dance Chronicle on JA Collective
About Rebecca Laufer & Mats van Rossum
Rebecca Laufer & Mats van Rossum share a deep interest in movement in dialogue with the imagination. They believe that the art of dance possesses a transformative power that transcends the boundaries of exclusive art circles. It is not intended for a select group of art lovers, but rather for a broader audience. The essence lies in the ability to resonate with people from all walks of life, regardless of their background or familiarity with artistic expressions. By embracing inclusivity, movement becomes a force for fostering understanding, empathy, and connection.
“Where does kindness go when the world hardens? Can we find it again? As dancers embody the forces that separate and connect us, magical imagery clashes with raw emotions—loss, hope, resistance, and longing for human contact. With our new choreography and an immersive soundscape, we offer a poetic reflection on our time. A surreal yet recognizable world that challenges us to rediscover what seems lost.” - Rebecca Laufer and Mats van Rossum on their new choreography
