'Becoming' has been a phenomenon in Amsterdam since 2021 and has already been seen (17 times) at CC Amstel, Likeminds, Amsterdam Roots, and Stadsarchief Amsterdam. This season, there is a collaboration with Podium Mozaïek on four editions: A Killjoy Feminist, Diaspora, Devoted , and All About Love.
Third edition
Welcome to 'Becoming Devoted': the third edition of the series at Podium Mozaïek. This time, we dive into the intimate, sometimes complex, relationship between queerness and religion. Host Nilay Ceber and partner organization Stichting Maruf – the leading knowledge center for Islam and sexual diversity – are creating a program full of honest stories, sexy rituals, and spiritual exploration. Expect an evening of performance, devotion, and collectivity. And yes, Mercury is in retrograde, so what better time to reconsider everything you thought you knew about faith, desire, and the body?
Maruf
Our partner in this edition is Stichting Maruf, the leading knowledge center for Islam and sexual diversity and a safe meeting place for queer Muslims. Queer Muslims face multiple forms of discrimination. Maruf helps them with self-acceptance and personal empowerment. They offer a space to unite sexual and gender diversity with faith. They organize meetings, conferences, and theme days, and are also the initiator of the Global and European Queer Muslim Network.
