Keti Koti: Retracing Steps

A performance by: Arturo den Hartog, Ernst Munneke, Julian Tjon Sack Kie, Mill Voyance + Ranie Ribeiro. On July 1, the Netherlands commemorates and celebrates the abolition of slavery in Suriname and the Antilles (Keti Koti and Dia di Abolishon). During this afternoon, we reflect on our shared past, present, and future, with opportunities for fellowship, music, and food. Countertenor Arturo den Hartog has curated a special program centered on Retracing Steps by composer Julian Tjon Sack Kie. Prior to the concert, it is possible to join the Heri Heri lunch: a one-pot dish featuring ingredients available to enslaved people on the plantations.
