Musical meeting
The Messthetics is an instrumental trio consisting of Joe Lally on bass, Brendan Canty on drums, and guitarist Anthony Pirog. The band was formed in 2016 and grew out of the members' musical backgrounds, with Lally and Canty previously part of the influential punk band Fugazi.
James Brandon Lewis is an American jazz saxophonist. He is known for his expressive and powerful playing, integrating elements of jazz, blues, and free jazz.
Experimental and accessible
Together, these artists have developed a unique sound that is both experimental and accessible. Various genres, from hard funk, to jazz-like melodies and exciting art-punk. The musical voyage of discovery of this quartet promises a compelling journey through various styles, resulting in a unique and fascinating listening adventure for enthusiasts. Their first album together will be released in March and they will be in Tolhuistuin on 23 May.
