Romance
César Franck was hopelessly in love with his student Augusta Holmès and wrote an expressive Piano Quintet . The passion that the middle-aged composer rediscovered is evident in this highly expressive piece. This would explain why Franck's wife always had such a strong aversion to the Piano Quintet . A Christmas prelude, appropriate for this time of year, is performed by Franck's love Holmès. Schubert's quartet is melodious, harmonious, and a touch melancholic. The Dudok Quartet and Hannes Minnaar – two Dutch musical giants – have already proven to be a golden combination.
Dudok Quartet and Hannes Minnaar
"Moving, disruptive, unmistakable." This is how the Dudok Quartet describes itself. It is one of the most creative and versatile quartets of its generation. The Guardian praised the quartet for its "limpy, vibrant sound and alert attention to structure and detail." Het Parool wrote of Hannes Minnaar: "Minnaar joins the ranks of the great pianists of our time." He is a pianist who knows how to convey the essence of music. His spontaneity, natural playing, and ease, which does not get bogged down in superficiality, make him a much-loved pianist. In 2016, he received the Dutch Music Prize. Gramophone : "He is a convincing sound painter and a fiery romantic. A natural talent with a daring streak."
