Piano trio Wildschut/Kruithof/Meeuwsen
Noa Wildschut, Benjamin Kruithof, and Nikola Meeuwsen are still young—in their twenties—but all three have been playing at the highest level for years. They've found each other perfectly in this regard, and their musical personalities are a perfect match. Together, they make the ideal piano trio: they combine technical perfection and mature interpretation with youthful energy and enthusiasm.
Haydn and Tchaikovsky
Joseph Haydn wrote as many as 45 piano trios. The best-known and most beloved of these is Piano Trio No. 39 , also known as the "Gypsy Trio" after the Rondo all'Ungarese in the final movement. It is a crossover before its time: Haydn had encountered Roma music while he was composer and conductor for the Esterházy family.
Roma musicians regularly visited their castle to give concerts. Haydn listened carefully and incorporated what he found beautiful into his own music. Tchaikovsky's Piano Trio in A minor is an emotional and moving tribute to his beloved teacher Nikolai Rubinstein, who had died shortly before he composed it. It is a riot of delightful, bittersweet melancholy that completely envelops the listener.
