Viennese New Year's Concert
In Vienna, the Vienna Philharmonic plays its New Year's Concert every January 1st in the Golden Hall of the Musikverein. The concert has been broadcast on Dutch television since 1984. But everything sounds better live, especially in the Concertgebouw. That's why the Concertgebouw is organizing its own New Year's Concert in Viennese style. So, start the new year in style with this Sunday Morning Concert!
Waltzes, polkas and marches by Johann Strauss Jr.
Under the direction of Nicholas Milton, the Göttingen Symphony Orchestra will perform the most beautiful waltzes, polkas, and marches by Johann Strauss Jr. and composers from his circle, such as Josef Gungl, Otto Nicolai, his brother Josef Strauss, and his father Johann Strauss. As is tradition in Vienna, the concert will conclude with Johann Strauss Jr.'s classic "The Beautiful Blue Danube ." It's music like champagne: festive, elegant, refined, and invigorating.
