N∆BOU
After the internationally acclaimed albums Hubert (2019) and You Know (2021), N∆BOU is charting a new course. With a fresh lineup – Trui Amerlinck (double bass), Gijs Idema (guitar), and Daniel Jonkers (drums) – the quartet sounds more powerful and layered than ever. Every album by Nabou and her band is a snapshot in time, and this new release reflects a period full of change. Jazz magazine Downbeat has already called their sound 'very contemporary, quite inventive'. That bodes well for this new record.
Transformation
For the first time, Nabou Claerhout draws on her personal experiences as a source of inspiration for her compositions. The lyrical timbre of her trombone serves as a voice for emotions ranging from letting go to being reborn. The theme of this album – transformation – thus receives a musical translation that is both intimate and universal. For life changes constantly, and it is precisely in that unpredictability that lies the beauty of growth, the magic of new perspectives, and the power of change.
