Discover Mozart's emotional depth in opera
In Mozart’s musical world, the voice is more than just a melody. The voice is a powerful tool for emotion, character, and drama. Sometimes the voice is even bolder, serving as an instrument for social criticism and political provocation. All this against the backdrop of a world standing on the brink of revolution.
Experience groundbreaking compositions from the Enlightenment
Mozart composed his greatest operas in the Europe of the Enlightenment. Their impact extended beyond the concert hall. Works such as 'Le nozze di Figaro' caused unrest. Emperor Joseph II banned the original play. 'Don Giovanni' and 'Così fan tutte' also caused a stir. These operas depicted power, desire, and human weaknesses.
Enjoy beloved arias and songs
Soprano Ruoran Ma and baritone Guyon Mingelen, accompanied by pianist Amy Chang, present a selection of Mozart's most famous opera arias, concert arias, and songs. Hear the duet 'Là ci darem la mano' from 'Don Giovanni', but also, for example, 'Come scoglio' from 'Così fan tutte'.
Experience Mozart's insight into the human heart
These masterpieces demonstrate Mozart's exceptional insight into the human voice and the human heart. He knew how to let music speak the truth, even when society preferred to leave it unspoken. Each work offers you a glimpse into the emotions of an era in turmoil. The music touches and resonates now, more than two centuries later.
Let yourself be swept away by Mozart's masterpieces
The program includes the overture from 'Le nozze di Figaro', 'Porgi amor' from 'Le nozze di Figaro' and 'Abendempfindung KV 523'. After the break, enjoy the overture from 'Cosi fan tutte', 'Deh, se piacer mi vuoi' from 'La clemenza di Tito' and 'Papagena! Weibchen! Täubchen! Meine Schöne!' from 'The Magic Flute'.
