Normally, the Dutch National Opera Choir shines as part of a larger ensemble, but this time it takes center stage. In this concert, sixteen choir members shine in a unique program that blends the minimal music of Philip Glass with a diverse Christmas repertoire. Take advantage of this rare opportunity to experience the voices of this world-renowned ensemble up close, as a festive outing during the month of December.
Harmony, rhythm and wonder
The program includes "Another Look at Harmony – Part IV," in which composer Philip Glass explores the interplay between harmony and rhythm. The work feels like a prelude to Glass's magnum opus, Satyagraha, the opera he composed in 1978 for the Dutch National Opera. The choir will also perform a colorful selection of Christmas music, from Sweelinck to Rossini.
In this unique concert series, the choir explores new musical forms and brings the power of opera and choral singing to locations throughout the country.
