About Nancy Zeltsman
Throughout her remarkable career, Nancy Zeltsman has appeared at renowned venues and festivals including the Tanglewood Festival of Contemporary Music, Ravinia Festival, Carnegie Hall, and concert halls across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. She has premiered more than 130 solo and chamber works by composers such as Gunther Schuller, Michael Tilson Thomas, Louis Andriessen, and Paul Simon. Alongside her acclaimed recordings, Zeltsman is also widely respected as a visionary educator and advocate for contemporary marimba repertoire.
A Musical Approach for All Levels
Currently Professor of Marimba and Chamber Music at Boston Conservatory at Berklee and Berklee College of Music, Nancy previously served as guest professor of marimba at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam from 2013–2024. Her influential teaching projects include the internationally renowned Zeltsman Marimba Festival, which brought together hundreds of marimbists from around the world. She is also the author of the widely used method book Four-Mallet Marimba Playing: A Musical Approach for All Levels, now in its eighth edition, and continues to shape the future of marimba performance through teaching, publishing, and artistic collaboration.
