A festive midnight mass Música Temprana + National Mixed Youth Choir
Charpentier must have thought that Christmas was a time for celebration. He wrote the Messe de Minuit pour Noël , a cheerful midnight mass in a playful baroque style. Charpentier used ten popular French Christmas carols for the melodies. Música Temprana and the National Mixed Youth Choir will sing not only the mass but also several of the original French songs.
As usual, Música Temprana will also take a trip to South America, singing music from the Jesuit missions. Priests and indigenous peoples there wrote hymns in a baroque style with lyrics in local South American languages. Música Temprana and the National Mixed Youth Choir guarantee a colorful concert and a swinging after-show in the foyer.
