It's the place where sustainability, heritage and creativity come together
Molen van West is a historic urban oasis in Amsterdam-West, on the grounds of Molen De Otter, the oldest working sawmill in the world dating back to 1631. Here, heritage, sustainability, and creativity come together. A place where meaningful encounters can take place. Right in the middle of the city, yet outside of time.
An oasis of tranquility in the middle of a residential area that you can only truly experience by being there. A special place where 40 windmills once stood, making it the world's first urban industrial area.
On the grounds stands a national monument windmill from 1631, which still saws wood. And two characterful sheds, ~water and ~wind, for events, sessions, and dinners. Sustainably heated using aquathermy. So well developed that we have already won two awards with it: the SBIR Innovation Prize ‘Sustainable Heritage’ & the PROVADA Inspiration Award 2025.
Ideal for cultural institutions, impact organizations, policymakers, strategy teams, top consultancies, embassies, law and notary firms, financial institutions, creative agencies, food and design brands, visionaries, and artists.
And above all: a place with soul.
