Ana Pi - Joy is not a metaphor - Dansworkshop

During this creative workshop, choreographer Ana Pi invites young dancers (18 years and older) to experiment with joy as inspiration. Drawing from her recent work Atomic Joy, also featured at Holland Festival on June 5th, 6th and 7th, participants are introduced to the choreographic guidelines, postures, and movement vocabulary that are central to this piece.

Dance workshop
Through playful yet focused exercises in rhythm, presence, tension, and listening, you are invited to create new, as yet unseen images and connect them with one another. Between individual freedom and dancing together, Joy is not a metaphor emphasizes the power of memory and disobedience, and how we can strengthen a sense of freedom in movement together. Some experience in urban dance is desirable.
The workshop also offers a glimpse into Ana Pi's research "CORPO FIRME: peripheral dances, sacred gesture," which focuses on traditions of movement and meaning from the transatlantic African diaspora.
