Short-term rentals, or short-stay apartments, offer a different way to experience the Amsterdam Area and feel like a local.
If you’re staying in the Amsterdam Area for seven or more nights, for example for work, your studies, a tour of the city or a congress, a short-stay apartment makes an excellent and surprisingly affordable alternative to hotels. Make sure that you’re fully informed and aware of the laws around private holiday rental before you book.
Short-stay apartments are also a great option for internationals that have come to live and work in the region. They are a good base from where to look for a permanent home, while already getting a taste of living like a local. Serviced apartments can be particularly handy in these cases.
Short-stay apartments require a permit for being rented out throughout the year, and are not allowed to be rented out for less than seven nights, or to more than four guests at a time. Short-stay apartments that are let for less than seven nights or to more than four guests are illegal. Learn more about the City of Amsterdam's short stay policy.
