Tips for Queer & Pride Amsterdam 2023

For the first time, Queer Amsterdam and Stichting Pride Amsterdam will organise Queer & Pride Amsterdam together. That is why the event will have an extra week this year, from 22 July to 6 August. We have collected the best exhibitions, lectures and activities.

Pride Walk

The celebration starts with the Pride Walk: an annual equal rights demonstration for the global rainbow community. The Pride Walk begins with a rally at 11:00, after which the parade through the city will commence from noon on Dam Square ending on Museumplein.

Pride at Hortus

Pride in the Botanical Gardens! During Queer & Pride Amsterdam, Hortus is all about diversity and inclusivity. Talk with us about pride in the plant kingdom, follow the sunny tour about (gender) diversity in nature and sign up for the queer speed dating session.

LoveSwim

Take a refreshing dip in the Amstel River and join in on the LoveSwim: the queer swimming event of the year. They will keep the exact planning a secret, but with rousing music from house DJ Robin S and fine snacks, it can't help but be a splashing day.

Pride Dog Walk

Join the Pride Dog Walk, celebrating love, diversity, and dogs and make some new friends – with both 2 legs and 4! Bring your dog(s) to Sarphatipark in their most fabulous outfits and parade through Amsterdam to Little Eden for a party with drinks & snacks from Brug34.

Pride Photo exhibition

Pride Photo is an annual international photography contest and platform for imagery about sexual and gender diversity. The aim is to give greater visibility for inspiring stories from the queer community. This year's theme ‘The Process of Change’ shows the adaptiveness and power of LGBTQIA+ persons to fight for its right to exist.

21 July to 10 August | Westerpark

The LGBTQI+ Gay History Tour of Amsterdam

Prepare to discover the city anew on this 2-hour tour, during which you will find out how Amsterdam became the first city in the world to have a gay monument and how same-sex marriage came about. By the end, you will walk away with extensive knowledge of the city’s 400 years of LGBTQI+ history.

Step into Mezrab, the kingdom of the spoken word, where real stories of people from the LGBTQI+ community will take centre stage. Prepare for true tales about sexuality and life experiences that range from hilarity to tugging at your heartstrings. The speakers come from all over the world, starting with the local LGBTQI+ community, to countries such as Iran, Ireland and Uganda.

Pride at the Beach

Queer & Pride comes to Zandvoort with a colourful 3-day festival celebration filled with diverse activities representing LGBTQI+ people with parties and activities from expos such as a Rainbow Service in a church to lectures, concerts, drag queen shows and much more.

Canal Parade

The Canal Parade is back with a vibrant celebration of LGBTQI+ identities and rights! Boat or canal side, everyone is welcome to show support and watch the 80 concept boats parade down Amsterdam’s canals as they follow the route from Oosterdok to Westerdok.
