This Amsterdam-based ensemble guarantees contemporary a cappella choral works that are sometimes less well-known, but possess a rare beauty like the Northern Lights. In this program , "Between Witch and Saint," the women's choir explores the age-old tension between the veneration and condemnation of women. On the one hand, she shines as a muse and mother, virginal, pure, and gentle; on the other, she appears as a strong woman, seductive and treacherous.

Nordlys presents ancient Scandinavian ballads, iconic medieval texts and modern poets. Set by contemporary composers such as Calliope Tsoupaki, Melissa Dunphy, Frank Havrøy, Knut Nystedt, Veljo Tormis and Samuel Barber. Earthly energy and transcendent clarity, magic versus mysticism, witch versus saint.
