Spanish violin morning
Three Spanish gems are on the program, two of them featuring solo violin. It promises to be a genuine Spanish violin morning. Violin virtuoso Pablo de Sarasate composed a fantasy on Bizet's hit opera Carmen , a Spanish love drama full of passion. In it, the violin acts as narrator, actress, singer, and dancer all at once. In cold Russia, Rimsky-Korsakov dreamed of warm-blooded Spanish adventures. His Capriccio espagñol is a five-movement orchestral suite featuring a starring role for the solo violin. Falla's El amor brujo is a colorful flamenco ballet in which a young woman is haunted by the ghost of a jealous, dead lover. The suite from it is rousing and exciting.
Letica Moreno
'She has the grace of a flamenco dancer, the strength of character of an Andalusian cantaora, and the smoldering gaze of one of Almodóvar's heroines. Without a doubt, Spain has just found a perfect musical ambassador,' wrote the French newspaper Le Figaro , raving with enthusiasm about violinist Leticia Moreno. With her flawless technique, the Spaniard is an ideal interpreter of this fiery music.
