Valerie Fritz
Austrian cellist Valerie Fritz is a true explorer on her instrument. She uses electronics and gut strings, plays classical and contemporary repertoire, and approaches the music with an open mind. "I don't want to say that a concert has to move me; that sounds too romantic," says Fritz. She wants to come out of it different than she went in. Fritz is the curator of the Tyrolean concert series noiz//elektrorauschen , and during workshops, she shares her fascination with new sounds with children and young people. In the Kleine Zaal, Fritz performs works by Rebecca Clarke and Shostakovich that invite introspection. The new piece that Jennifer Walshe wrote for Fritz and her pianist Mario Häring deals with the challenges of communication between astronauts and their partners on Earth.
