Hitchcock's Vertigo, Mozart, Rachmaninoff and Amin Tafreshi
Van Engelenhoven presents a highly diverse program this evening. After a beloved Mozart sonata, you'll hear his latest collaboration with composer Ramin Amin Tafreshi in a world premiere of a major work that will reflect on the questions and tensions of our time. After the intermission, you'll hear music by composers who all lived on the West Coast of the United States, but whose roots lay elsewhere. Famous preludes by Rachmaninoff are followed by film scores by Franz Waxman and Bernard Herrmann, including a suite from Hitchcock's Vertigo , composed and arranged by Van Engelenhoven.
