Even now that Ronald Brautigam has reached the age of 70, he continues to perform at the highest level. Since 2009, he has worked closely with the Cologne Academy, and together they released the acclaimed complete recordings of the Mozart and Beethoven piano concertos. This successful collaboration continues with Beethoven's Third Piano Concerto and the Second Piano Concerto by "the Dutch Beethoven," Johann Wilhelm Wilms. Come and listen at Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ.

Famous heroism and unknown beauty

The German-Dutch Wilms wrote five piano concertos, and Brautigam recorded them all with the Cologne Academy. "Performances full of lightness and transparency," wrote BBC Magazine, which gave the recording five stars. The First Symphony by the unconventional classical composer and concert pianist Louise Farrenc is also on the program. A century and a half after her death, she is slowly but surely emerging from the shadows of her male contemporaries.
