Morrer e Renascer na Encruzilhada, a concert by Djâmen
In this performance, the composer presents a sonic journey that bridges tradition and invention, blending Afro-Brazilian rhythms, jazz influences, and a contemporary musical language. The project celebrates the ancestral legacy of Black music and reaffirms the creative strength of southern Brazil, transforming the crossroads into a symbol of encounter, resistance, and rebirth.
More than a concert, Morrer e Renascer na Encruzilhada is an artistic and spiritual manifesto. Djâmen establishes himself as a leading contemporary voice of his culture, guiding the audience through a narrative that speaks of self-knowledge, pain, empowerment, and reconstruction.
After releasing his album at the iconic Blue Note in Rio de Janeiro and touring briefly in Brazil, the artist returns to European stages with a work that honors those who came before and projects new paths forward.
In the specific performance at Teatro Munganga, Djâmen will be joined by special guest Eglė Petrosiūtė, a Lithuanian singer based in the Netherlands, renowned for her work in jazz and world music. A long-time creative partner and co-composer, her presence deepens the intercultural dialogue of the concert, expanding its sonic and poetic horizons.
A concert of re-existence — where ancestry meets the future and art is reborn.
