Musicians from Minneapolis share their experiences of the past few years in music and sound at Splendor. Summer is slowly drawing to a close. As the evenings shorten and twilight takes over the landscape between light and dark, Splendorian Thomas Myrmel welcomes two special guests from Minneapolis: John Marks and Crystal Myslajek. With their new project Reflectors, they offer a personal and musical glimpse into a city that has changed dramatically in recent years.

Crystal Myslajek, composer and multi-instrumentalist, and John Marks, interdisciplinary artist, form Reflectors. Drawing from Minneapolis's vibrant art scene, they create sprawling compositions in which slowly shifting melodies, colorful soundscapes, vocals, keyboards, and electronics come together.

In the Twin Cities, art and activism are closely intertwined. The death of George Floyd in 2020 and recent events in 2026 have made the personal inevitably political. The work of Reflectors reflects a deep commitment to community care and resistance, precisely when human dignity is under pressure.

Sealf: boundaries of the song

Electronic sound artist Thomas Myrmel and bassist Jonathan Nagel form Sealf. They push the boundaries of the song to the extreme. Melodies, expansive soundscapes, and shimmering electronic textures flow into one another. This draws you into a meditative sound world, supported by Myrmel's poetic lyrics.
