Lorenzo Viotti conducts Dvořák's Symphony No. 7
Brahms' Double Concerto is double the fun since two superb soloists are on stage: the Georgian violinist Lisa Batiashvili and German cellist Maximilian Hornung. Chief conductor Lorenzo Viotti will lead the orchestra in Antonín Dvořák's darkly emotional Seventh Symphony in Het Concertgebouw.

Brahms' Double Concerto with Lisa Batiashvili and Maximilian Hornung
The Double Concerto for Cello and Violin was Johannes Brahms' gesture of reconciliation to violinist Joseph Joachim, a good friend with whom he had a falling out. The Double Concerto is all about ensemble playing and is sometimes as intimate as chamber music before going out with the entire orchestra. That interplay goes well for violinist Lisa Batiashvili and cellist Maximilian Hornung: they already sound fantastic together on Batiashvili's latest CD, City Lights.
Lorenzo Viotti conducts Dvořák's Symphony No. 7
Antonín Dvořák's three last symphonies are absolute masterpieces. The Ninth Symphony 'From the New World' is Dvořák's biggest hit, but most experts agree that the Seventh Symphony is even better. Inspired by the symphonies of Johannes Brahms, Dvořák wrote a symphony full of beautiful melodies and unprecedented depth.
