Pianist Akari Bastiaens at the Bijlmer Parktheater Amsterdam

Akari Bastiaens began playing in concerts at the age of five. A year later, she won the Steinway Piano Competition Belgium. Since then, she has collected international prizes, including the First Prize, the Press Prize, and the Audience Prize at the Princess Christina Competition. Juries and the public praise her playing for its poetry, refinement, and musical instinct.

Akari plays works by Bach , Schumann, and Ravel . She combines technical refinement with a playfulness befitting her age, making the music sound fresh and direct. It seems as if the music is being created on the spot.
