USA 250
Because the American Declaration of Independence was signed 250 years ago, a salute is being paid to the United States. During this Close-up concert, you will hear Barber’s First String Quartet with the world-famous Adagio and Copland’s far too rarely heard Sextet . Bernstein’s Clarinet Sonata has since become part of the standard repertoire. Caroline Shaw has been familiar with the Concertgebouw since her residency in the 2024–2025 season. Wijnand van Klaveren arranged Gershwin’s An American in Paris for sextet.
Close-up
In the Close-up chamber music series, musicians from the Concertgebouw Orchestra perform self-composed programs in the Small Hall. Each one is a unique, one-off concert that cannot be heard anywhere else. The perfect way to experience the individual qualities of the orchestra musicians! The intimate concerts are organized by the Friends of the Concertgebouw and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.
