Bregje Sliepenbeek
Bregje Sliepenbeek is an artist living and working in Amsterdam. The transformation of materials is central to her practice. Bregje Sliepenbeek is fascinated by the metamorphosis she can bring about with metal: the magic of transforming a cold, hard material into something soft and organic. The flat aluminium plates she works with change under her hands into curved, cushion-like forms that feel almost physical.
Bregje explores the possibilities of the material in a tentative and intuitive way, as if she cannot bear the hardness of the metal and wishes to imbue it with a feminine softness. This results in installations and relief sculptures that often feature recurring botanical and historical-architectural references.
Repair Depot
Reparatie Remise is a series of workshops in Amsterdam-West where artists and makers share knowledge about repairing and transforming everyday objects. All workshops are free to attend and open to everyone, contributing to small-scale, community-oriented forms of repair and care.
You are working in the garden of Broedplaats BOUW. It should be summer. But this is still the Netherlands, so keep an eye on the weather forecast.
Registration opens 10 days in advance. Check the website:reparatieremise.com.
