Museum 'De Zwarte Tulp'

Museum De Zwarte Tulp, the museum of flower bulb culture and art, is located in Lisse, in the heart of the Flower Bulb region.
Flowers
In the museum, visitors experience the Flower Bulb region through an interactive exhibition for the whole family. The museum tells about 500 years of the region's history, the work on the land 100 years ago and now, and the science behind the development of new tulip varieties.
In addition, through one of the most important print collections in this field, an art collection consisting of paintings, glass, silver and porcelain, and changing exhibitions of contemporary art, you can see how artists are inspired again and again by the beauty of flowers.
The museum is housed in a building in the center of Lisse that once served as a bulb shed. Part of the museum are the impressive early 20th-century boardrooms of Kalkzandsteenfabriek Van Herwaarden BV - called the Comparitie. Naturally, a variety of bulbous plants bloom in the museum garden during the season.
